Our Jet Boat Operations (PSO) course trains first responders and individuals for boat-based technical rescue incidents. This course meets and exceeds NFPA 1006 (2021), NFPA 2500 (2022), and FEMA Boat Operator & Swiftwater/Flood SAR Boat Technician Standards.
Day 1 Still Water:

- Serpentine maneuvering
- Short distance on plane
- Boat inspections
- Cleaning the shoe/grate
- Motor limitations/skipping the boat 90 degree turn
- Stopping the boat/j-turn
- Loading the victim/ securing the victim with PFD/medical
- Reading the river ( up-stream/ downstream V, strainers, shallow water)
- Explain running shallow water in Jet operations
Day 2:River Operations:

- Run serpentine around existing obstacles
- Approaching victim on river bank
- Loading victim off river bank
- Approaching victim on obstacle
- Removing victim from obstacle
- Running downstream and up stream V
- Motor failure drill
- Calling out a MAYDAY
- Running shallow water ripple (know the boats limitations)
- Starting and stopping boat in short distance

- 20 hours (2 days) total. Day 2 is split to allow for night ops experience.

Equipment & What To Bring:
- Boat (hard-shell or inflatable, 25HP motor or higher, fuel for 3 days)
- Paddles
- Throwbags
- Wetsuit or Drysuit
- Water boots/shoes
- Gloves
- Water helmet
- Type āVā PFD
- Flashlight
- Chem-stick
- We also recommend a second set of clothes, towel, sunscreen, plenty of water, snacks and lunch (depending on water site location).
